Bimbo Atilola

Bimbo Atilola is the Managing Partner of Hybrid Solicitors, and a recognised expert in Nigerian Labour & Employment Law, and the Law of Taxation. His consultancy transactions include the design and review of employment policies, collective bargaining agreements, legal advisory and support on collective bargaining negotiations, collective redundancies, employees separation, HR audit and due diligence.
Bimbo consults for, and represents global brands and multinationals including Total Energies, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Lafarge, Cadbury, Unilever, Ab-inbev, Maersk Line, Bollore Africa logistics, GAC Shipping, CMACGM Shipping, British American Tobacco, Frieland Campina Wamco and Hayat Kimya. Bimbo has also consulted for the Federal Government of Nigeiria on various policy reforms in labour & employment law and industrial relations. He is the lead legal consultant to the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM). He represented CIPM on the tripartite body set up by the Federal Government of Nigeria on the Review of Nigerian labour laws.

Bimbo was the lead legal consultant to a consortium of over 10 major multinational shipping/maritime companies in Nigeria on the structuring of an industry based collective bargaining agreement. A Courtroom advocate, Bimbo regularly appears as counsel before all the superior Courts in Nigeria, especially the National Industrial Court of Nigeria. In the taxation space, Bimbo consults on corporate taxation, taxation due diligence, tax policy and reforms. He was retained by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) as the consultant to the “FIRS Compendium of Tax Laws”. A chartered tax practitioner, Bimbo is a former chairman of the Commercial Law and Taxation Committee of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).

A prolific author, Bimbo is the publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Labour Law Review, a widely read international journal published in Nigeria. He has authored, and edited several leading and frequently cited published works in Nigerian Labour & Employment Law, including Annotated Nigerian Labour Legislation (2008), Themes on the New Employee’s Compensation Act (2013), Themes in Trade Union Law and Administration in Nigeria (2010), Nigerian Labour Law Dictionary (2015), Managing Expatriates in Employment: Legal, HR & Tax Perspectives (2016), Recent Developments in Nigerian Labour & Employment Law (2017), and Mental Health at the Workplace: A Practical Guide for HR Managers (2018), among many others. Many of his published works have been cited with approval a few times by the National Industrial Court of Nigeria. Bimbo has been recognised as a labour and employment lawyer in Nigeria by several global law firms rating agencies including the popular WhoisWho Legal.
